About Me

Biography

Gerald Evans's journey is an inspiring testament to his dedication to both real estate and community service. Starting from his roots in St. Louis, Missouri, and his education at Hampton University, he has continually demonstrated a passion for real estate, which he shared with his family members.

Transitioning to Atlanta, Gerald's career path led him through various sectors, including real estate, IT, and cybersecurity. Each step enriched his skill set and knowledge base, ultimately leading him back to his true passion: real estate. His commitment to mastering data analysis and understanding market trends underscores his dedication to providing valuable insights to his clients.

As an elected official on the Doraville City Council, Gerald plays a crucial role in shaping policies that promote smart growth and development while preserving the city's unique identity. His involvement in various community organizations, such as the Atlanta REALTORS® Association and the Governmental Affairs Committee further reflect his commitment to serving others and fighting for private property rights. Gerald has also earned 2 certificates of recognition from the University of Georgia (UGA).

Gerald's leadership roles, including Mayor Pro Team for 2024 and positions on the Urban Development Authority (URA) and Doraville Community Engagement Board, further highlight his dedication to making a positive impact at both local and regional levels. His multifaceted approach to community engagement sets a commendable example for others, showcasing the power of service and leadership in building vibrant and inclusive communities.

Energizing the Economy

I’ve helped bring Assembly Atlanta film studios here, approved Chilly Mill Crossing for more retail and commercial space, and championed our city’s first 55-plus active adult community for residents on fixed incomes. We’re reconnecting Doraville with new sidewalks and bike lanes — including on Peachtree Boulevard to safely connect residents through busy thoroughfares — improving streets, and reshaping Peachtree Boulevard to reflect the vibrant, growing city we are, not just an industrial area. I spotlighted Assembly Atlanta Film Studios in Doraville at the Georgia Municipal Association’s annual conference in Savannah, shining a light on the city’s growing film industry and workforce opportunities. This includes a new workforce development partnership with the Georgia Film Academy, giving students hands-on experience in film production and opening doors to creative careers. I’ve supported extending the Peachtree Creek Greenway and advanced housing policies that create more opportunities for first-time homebuyers. I’ve partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to bring new businesses into Doraville, promoted workforce development by supporting internship programs, and celebrated the successes of our schools through active participation in career days and community events.

I have had several speaking engagements promoting Doraville at Assembly Atlanta, Decide to CAB, the Doraville Chamber of Commerce, and at Leadership CAB events in Texas cities including San Antonio and Houston. I’ve also spoken about the city’s opportunities at events in Lake Lanier and Lake Lanier Islands, and advocated for Doraville before business owners and developers at multiple real estate conventions and industry gatherings.

Embracing Diversity

Doraville’s strength is its rich culture and community. I’ve supported inclusive events, helped bring Sequoia Middle and High School to our city, worked closely with small business owners and community groups so every voice is heard and valued, and promoted private event spaces that provide residents with places to gather and host social activities. Additionally, I helped create fair housing policies for short-term rentals permitted by the city.

Empowering Seniors

Our seniors are pillars of Doraville. I regularly attend senior luncheons and have championed programs that improve their quality of life — from advancing the new library bond to upgrading parks with restrooms, dog parks, safe spaces, and a future pool. We have already budgeted $800,000 for the new pool, alongside a new master plan to revitalize the park.
